The aim of the 2025 Budapest V60 Challenge is to promote filter coffee brewing, develop coffee culture, and strengthen the connection between baristas and home coffee enthusiasts. The competition provides a platform for participants to demonstrate their technical skills and coffee-related creativity, while striving to reach the competition stage by brewing the best filter coffee. During the competition, all participants will use the V60 filter brewing device.

A special occasion for the competition is the debut of the Hi New Beans! Art & Coffee Series filter coffee, an exclusive collaboration between Hi New Beans! and Röast. For the artistic presentation of the coffee, we have invited ceramic artist Anett Sáfrán, with whom we have created a unique aroma cup.

Application and Participation Information

Registration for the 2025 Budapest V60 Challenge will open on May 7th, 2025, at 00:00. It is worth registering as soon as possible, as we can only guarantee entry for the first 24 applicants. 

To register, purchase a competitor ticket through the webshop. The registration fee is 18,000 HUF. After your registration is received, you will receive an invoice and a confirmation email. You can find the tickets by scrolling down the page.

Please note that registration is only final upon payment of the registration fee.

Who can participate in the competition?

Basically, anyone can apply!! The only exceptions are the organizers and immediate family members of the organizing team; the competition is open to everyone else.

What awaits the participants?

 

During the competition, you are guaranteed an exciting and unforgettable experience! Every competitor will receive a special gift package and a certificate of participation. The top three finishers will receive exclusive prizes:

1st Place: Two round-trip airline tickets and two entry tickets to the World Barista Championship, a box of Hi New Beans! Limited Art & Coffee Series filter coffee and a unique Sáfrán Anett x Hi New Beans! aroma cup, as well as a 10,000 HUF brunch voucher for Edison & Jupiter Specialty Coffee.
2nd Place: A 150,000 HUF SCA filter coffee training course at Röast, a box of Hi New Beans! Art & Coffee Series filter coffee, and a 10,000 HUF brunch voucher for Edison & Jupiter Specialty Coffee.
3rd Place: A box of Hi New Beans! Art & Coffee Series filter coffee and a 20,000 HUF brunch voucher for Edison & Jupiter Specialty Coffee.

13:00 – 13:30: Competitor registration

13:30 – 14:00: Drawing of lots & briefing

14:00 – 16:50: Competition – two brew stations, 24 competitors – 13 minutes per round: 4 minutes preparation, 5 minutes competition, 4 minutes evaluation

16:50 – 17:00: Final judging by the jury, preparation for the awards ceremony

17:00: Awards ceremony

17:30 onwards: Relaxed wind-down, conversation, tasting, and chill on the terrace

Taste excellent coffees, delicious Nicaraguan food, participate in the raffle for valuable prizes, and chat with experienced baristas about the tricks of home coffee brewing. On this day, we will be presenting the exclusive Hi New Beans! × Röast Art & Coffee limited edition filter coffee and Anett Sáfrán’s numbered aroma cup for the first time – available now with special discounts!
